Frequently Asked Questions (Go to Home Page )
The following questions are the most asked from parents and students. If you do not see the information you need listed on this page, please e-mail or contact me and I will send you the information as soon as possible.

Q. How can I get my grade?

A. The Parent Portal link is located on my website, the District website, and my class calendar. If you want your grade printed, just ask during class - I will try and have it for you by the end of the session. All printed reports, if signed by the parent and returned to me, will be extra credit toward the current 9 week grading period. I will e-mail or text grades to all parents that give me an e-mail address or phone number.

If you would like your son/daughter's grade texted to you , send me your cell phone number: mrcard@mrcard.org - I will send grades through the Verizon web-site. You can reply if you wish - otherwise the system will only be used for grades. I will only use texting for discipline in cases where nothing else seems to work.

*****Email can also be used, just e-mail your address to mrcard@mrcard.org .

Q. How much do each of my assignments and tests count in this class?

A. The scores are weighted:

  • class/homework = 40%,
  • tests and/or quizzes = 30%,
  • folders w/Vocabulary/Class Notes = 10%, (from class notes & can be used on tests),
  • planner = 5% (req'd by the school - maintains calendar, fills in homework - all classes, gets notes to parents signed, reading log is maintained)
  • Participation = 15% (returns signed grade reports, prepared each day and works in class, etc)

Q. If I am absent, how many days do I get to make-up my work?

A. No late work will be accepted - b ut, each day you are out on an excused absence gets you one day of make-up. So, If you are out 4 days, you should get 4 days of make-up time to do your work. ****Because of the nature of CMP Math if you do not have an assignment ready the day it is due, you can ask to get one additional day: (1) if the assignment has a parents signature on it, and (2) you will have a 20 point deduction for your grade. Incomplete work will not be graded. This does not apply when you are in ISS (work completed in ISS) or Suspended (no make-up)

Q.Why are assignments not accepted late?

A. With so many students it is difficult to keep track of late assignments. It does no good to turn in notes that can be used on a test AFTER the test is over. Students will always be given ample time to complete all assignments in this class. To prevent a problem, students should try and work on homework for 15 to 30 minutes each night rather than wait until the night before it is due.

Q. Is it okay to use a computer to complete my work?

A. Yes. In fact, if you are absent you can e-mail your assignments (completed on-line if possible) to me by attaching them to an email. Please send assignments to mrcard@mrcard.org. If you complete a writtem summary report, please remember to bring the rough draft and copy of the article with you when you return to school. Please use Microsoft Word when completing all assignments.
